ELSA: Seeking female identifying actor to play Elsa, who is next in line for the throne and has been born with magical powers that can overwhelm her when she becomes afraid and harm others if not handled with care. Fearful of hurting anyone, especially her beloved sister, Anna, Elsa becomes anxious and withdrawn as she grows older, before eventually learning to take control of, and become confident in, her powers. F#3 to D5
ANNA: Seeking female identifying actor to play Anna, who is filled with a tremendous amount of light, energy, and love. She is a hopelessly optimistic extrovert at all ages, but as she grows older, she longs for connection with others, especially her sister, Elsa. A strong singer with great comic timing. G3 to D5
KRISTOFF: Seeking male identifying actor to play Kristoff, a hardworking ice harvester who has a sarcastic veneer and a rough-around-the-edges exterior that hides a big heart. Taken in by the Hidden Folk when he was young, he loves Pabbie and Bulda dearly, but is a bit of a loner with a reindeer for a best friend-until he meets Anna. G2 to A3

HANS:
Seeking male identifying actor to play the ambitious Prince of the Southern Isles and overlooked thirteenth son of a king. Hans constantly strives to find a way to make good and stand out. He boasts an exceedingly charming facade that fools everyone – including Anna and, ideally, the audience! – into believing he’s Prince Charming, when really, he’s just a jerk.  G2 to B3

OLAF: Seeking a male identifying actor to play the magical snowman created by Anna and Elsa when they were young. Olaf is endearingly delighted by everything – especially the idea of summer. Goofy and sweet, Olaf should possess a childlike innocence and excellent comic timing. F#2 to D4
SVEN: Seeking a male identifying actor to play a reindeer of few words who is a fiercely loyal pal to Kristoff, and loves giving the ice harvester a hard time.
PABBIE: Seeking a male identifying actor to play one of the mystical leaders of the Hidden Folk who has a soft spot for “strays.” Along with Bulda, these ever-benevolent parental figures want what’s best for Kristoff, even if they are a bit misguided in their efforts.

BULDA:
Seeking a female identifying actor to play one of the mystical leaders of the Hidden Folk who has a soft spot for “strays.” Along with Bulda, these ever-benevolent parental figures want what’s best for Kristoff, even if they are a bit misguided in their efforts.

WESELTON: Seeking male identifying actor to play A visiting duke who possesses a huge inferiority complex. A bombastic, overbearing sycophant, Weselton’s sole purpose is to hobnob with influencers and royalty. F#2 to D4
BISHOP: Seeking male identifying actor to play the bishop who officiates the coronation and passing of the crown to Elsa. This spiritual supervisor must communicate to the Townspeople of Arendelle in a serious and formal manner.
KING AGNARR: Seeking male identifying actor to play the warm-hearted ruler of Arendelle who is committed to protecting both his family and the Townspeople from his eldest daughter’s powers.
QUEEN IDUNA: Seeking female identifying actor to play the queen who possesses a sense of rightness and kindness that guides her in her protection of her two young girls. A daughter of the Northern Nomads, this queen can communicate with the Hidden Folk of the mountains and therefore understands Elsa’s powers deeply.
OAKEN: Seeking male identifying actor to play an exceedingly cheerful and convivial wandering salesperson and ardent devotee to all things cozy and comfortable.
YOUNG ELSA: Seeking female identifying actor to play Elsa, who is next in line for the throne and has been born with magical powers that can overwhelm her when she becomes afraid and harm others if not handled with care. Fearful of hurting anyone, especially her beloved sister, Anna, Elsa becomes anxious and withdrawn as she grows older, before eventually learning to take control of, and become confident in, her powers. A3 to C#5

A Note from Authors on Casting: From the very beginning of working on The Prince of Egypt theatrical musical, we wanted to tell a universal story that spans all racial and ethnic divides, and so we always felt it was important to have a diverse cast whenever possible. In the various productions up to date, we have had a Sri Lankan Moses, a Filipino Tzipporah, a Palestinian Tzipporah, a black Ramses, a Chinese Keturah, and countless other permutations. The point is that anyone, no matter what their background, can play any role. In many productions, our diverse casts have tripled as Egyptians, Hebrews and Midianites. And in all our productions, we have found that audiences have wholeheartedly embraced and enjoyed this idea of inclusion. That’s a central message of The Prince of Egypt: in the end, when we strip away the circumstances of our birth and upbringing, we are all the same as members of the human race. We hope you will embrace this universal story and make it your own, bringing the musical and the message to your own community. – Philip LaZebnik and Stephen Schwartz

Moses: Playful, but with a soulful core. Ages throughout the show. He begins the show as a devil-may-care young man, a bit of a clown and playboy, secure in his privileged identity as a prince of Egypt. But after his devastating discovery that he was born a slave, he grows into the strong and compassionate leader of the Hebrew people. A high tenor (sings up to Bb) with a thrilling voice and large range. Male. 18-39. Bb2-A4
Ramses: A prince of Egypt, heir to the throne, who ages throughout the show. He loves his brother Moses, but is also quite competitive with him, since Moses’s winning personality continually puts him in the shade. His father expects a great deal from him as the future Pharaoh, and Ramses is wracked by self-doubt. Through trials of great pain over the course of the show, he ultimately becomes a great leader of the Egyptians. A strong tenor (sings up to G#), but with a well-developed lower range. Male. 18-39. Bb2-A4
Yocheved: Moses’s Hebrew mother. She sets her son afloat in a basket on the Nile in order to save him from the Egyptian soldiers. Rich alto voice, sings in Hebrew and English. Female. 20-39. G3-E5
Young Miriam: Moses’s Hebrew sister. Good singing voice. Female. 8-11. G3-C5
Tuya: Regal, wise, deeply loving. She always wanted another son after Ramses was born, and believes Moses was a gift from the gods. Over the course of the show she changes from being a vibrant, clever, and even playful woman to a broken creature devastated by the loss of her adopted son. Rich alto voice. Female. 35-55. G3-E5
Seti: The Pharaoh of Egypt. Commanding, carries himself with great dignity and authority. As a young man, he brought Egypt back from the brink ofcivil war. He is a great general and still leads his army into battle. He loves his sons deeply, but he loves Egypt more and everything he does is to protect and preserve his country.A low baritone/bass. Male. 50-69. B2-E4
Hotep: The High Priest of Egypt. Though pompous and self-important, he is deeply committed to the ancient gods of Egypt and above all fears the heresy of the one god which brought down the previous dynasty. His support is crucial to the well-being of the 18th Dynasty. He despises Moses for his lack of reverence and seeks to preserve the Egyptian hierarchy at all costs. Strong baritone. Male. 50-65. G#2-F4
Tzipporah: A Midian princess, fiery and rebellious, who ages throughout the show. She is full of spirit and strength, and wants nothing more than for her people to be free. Deeply committed to her family, and eventually to her love for Moses. Must have a thrilling high belt, but also a well-developed and beautiful mix; must also dance well. Female. 18-39. Ab3-E5
Miriam: Moses’s Hebrew sister. Devout, unswerving, simple-hearted, optimistic. A prophetess. She believes in God and in Moses as the Deliverer and never wavers in her faith in both. Strong rich belt. Female. 25-45. G3-Eb5
Aaron: Moses’s Hebrew brother. Intellectual, sardonic, skeptical, funny. Aaron has reached an accommodation with his life as a slave; he makes a joke of everything to diminish the pain. Aaron is the last Hebrew to believe in Moses; when Moses returns to Egypt and confronts Ramses, asking him to let his people go, Aaron’s skepticism is borne out when the Hebrews’ labor is doubled. But when Aaron is finally won over, he becomes Moses’ most loyal follower. Tenor or high baritone. Male. 22-40. B2-G4
Nefertari: Ramses’s wife and his Queen of Egypt. Imperious and haughty. Scion of an ancient royal family, she is keenly aware of her position and her importance to the dynasty. She is supremely self-confident and looks down upon Ramses as a member of an upstart family. But at the end, her heart is broken by the death of her son and she reveals her humanity and love for Ramses. Strong rich belt, high alto. Female. 20-39. B3-D5
Jethro: The High Priest of Midian and Tzipporah’s father. A powerful, wise presence, exuding a joy of life and a deep empathy for others. Full of love and buoyancy, with a deep spiritual center. A high baritone (must sing up to G) with a strong warm voice. Male. 50-65. A2-G4
Leah: One of Tzipporah’s younger sisters. Feisty and willing to fight when threatened. Good-humored, she and Keturah think their older sister is a bit of a head case, and they happily welcome Moses into their tribe. Female. 11-14. B3-C#5
Keturah: One of Tzipporah’s younger sisters. Feisty and willing to fight when threatened. Good-humored, she and Leah think their older sister is a bit of a head case, and they happily welcome Moses into their tribe. Female. 15-16. B3-C#5
Ensemble: Singers and dancers who portray Hebrew slaves, members of the Egyptian court, Priests, and Midianites.
